A friend recently sent me an article entitled "Why Men Stay Stuck." I almost laughed out loud ... because my brain interpreted this statement as, "Why Men Stay Stupid." Paul wrote, "Claiming to be wise, they became fools (stupid)" (Romans 1:22). I just relate more to being stupid than being stuck because so often stuck is the result of stupid. God said, (in a direct quote), "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid" (Proverbs 12:1). So, there it is. Why do we stay stupid? We don't care for discipline. We don't want to live with...

I was having coffee with a successful man—good business, nice house, kids in good schools. But his eyes were unfocused. Regret can be a real downer. Some long pauses in the conversation. "Paul," he said, "I've been successful at a lot of things. But I don't know if I've actually been successful at just being me." How many men are winning at the wrong game? Living a story they didn't write? It just got written for them. Wondering what the next chapter is, because the last chapter wasn't good, not fulfilling the deepest longing in their heart....? Social media was filled this weekend with people talking about going to church, many for the first time. One young woman posted, “I’m not sure if I’ll be accepted and I’m not sure where exactly to go - but I just know that’s what I need right now.” A young man said, “I’m going back to church for the first time in a decade. I knew it, but I was just comfortable … now I’m not. I need to be there.” Another said, “I’m not sure what they do at church, but something in my life has to change.” In...

Evil wants you to quit. But we are not those men. We are men on a mission … and that mission is Jesus. We, who are men of righteous intent, seem often stunned by the unrestrained immoral nature of evil. But we must not be surprised and must not live unawares. The furious corruption of evil never stops … it has no moral center. It is evil. We are in a fight for the souls of men. My heart is deeply grieved over the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the murder of the young refugee Iyrna Zarutska, on a train...

As the college football and NFL season kicks off this week, I was reminded of this story of my friend Clint Gresham. Clint could have ended up dead. Instead, he became a Super Bowl champion, team captain, a Maximized Man, and a CMN ally. Clint was on the winning side as a member of the Seattle Seahawks. But he was far from winning as a man. Sacked by family issues and childhood trauma, his youth was a mess of alcohol and mayhem. Even though he attended church as a kid, nothing was real until Jesus captured him through the powerful...
