God promised Caleb the Promised Land, he walked in it, smelled it, touched it ... then it took 40 years before he lived there. FORTY YEARS! Sounds short when we read it, it's always more difficult to live it.
Check out this powerful and encouraging video of Pastor Taylor Barriger at Lions Roar 2025. "If God says to you, 'I will bring you,'" Taylor states, "then you're going to make it!"
If God gives you a promise ... it will happen. No matter what today looks like.
After Caleb spied out the Promised Land with his friend Joshua, they told the Israelites to go possess the land. But the people wouldn't go, so God made them wander for 40 years. But about Caleb, he said, "... my servant Caleb has a different attitude than the others have. He has remained loyal to me, so I will bring him into the land he explored. His descendants will possess their full share of that land." Number 14:24
Think of it. For 40 years, Caleb lived with the people who said "no, we won't go,"
For 40 years, Caleb had to eat what they could get in the desert, not live off the bounty of the fertile land he had seen and walked on.
For 40 years, Caleb lived next to neighbors and worshipped with people who were the very ones who had sealed his fate to wander for decades instead of inheriting what was promised.
And yet, when Caleb's time came, the Bible says of him that he had a good spirit.
The Bible says that Caleb was a man fully committed to the promises of God. Caleb was willing to endure anything to see the fulfillment of God's promise. Caleb was courageous enough to stand alone with Joshua when everyone around him said he was wrong. Caleb trusted God.
Taylor Barriger is a picture of what happens when a man like his father, Robert, trusts God. Heading into the jungle as a young father with his toddler kids, Taylor and Jenna, and his wife, Karyn. Robert trusted God. Was willing to endure. Fully committed to the promises of God ... courageous enough to keep going when the results looked bad.
And today Taylor Barriger and his family live in that legacy.
