A grandfather we know was dealing with the purpose of his life. And his grandson was in the weeds as a teenager. So, the grandpa asked for prayer ... first for himself and then for his grandson. And then he made plans to be at Lions Roar that year. Huge change - big renewal in his life. Clarity, direction, purpose. Fresh energy and excitement about life.
His faith renewed, he kept trying to influence his grandson for Christ. He couldn’t tell if any of it was working. He and his wife were very concerned about the direction of the young man's life.
So, he went to work to bring the young man to Lions Roar. He tangled with logistics—the grandson’s work and school schedule.
He worked out the budget—flying in, renting a car, getting the hotel.
Would any of it even matter to a young man? What the grandfather knew was that action was better than just wishing.
So last year, the grandson attended Lions Roar with his grandfather.
Remember the principle, when it looks like nothing is happening…something is happening. Yet, the grandpa kept wondering—Did it help? Did I do enough?
Last week at the grandfather's birthday party, just before the grandson left for college, the grandpa read the card from his grandson...he was stunned. The young man wrote:
“Thank you, Grandpa, for being the best grandfather anyone could ask for. The lessons you’ve taught me...The best is to have a great role model like you. As I move to college, I aspire to learn to be a real man and a son of the almighty God.”
The power of God! The life-changing presence of Christ! Breakthrough!
