The main target of CMN is to see every man become a strong disciple, and every pastor a successful disciple-maker. If the pastor is a successful disciple-maker, and men become strong disciples, everything changes for that church.
Master the Art of Discipling Men is a new, national campaign for pastors and churches in 2026.
The reason we’re targeting events to church leaders is that the number one key to building a strong ministry to men is to have the support and involvement of the senior or lead pastor.
This doesn’t mean the pastor has to do more work. In fact, a robust ministry to men saves a pastor time. The ministry simply needs the support and involvement of the pastor.
Here’s the reason: The pulpit is the propulsion center for a church. The senior pastor steers the church. The life of the pastor brings life to the church. In that sense, the DNA of a pastor’s life will become the DNA of that church.
The principle is: “The character of the kingdom emanates from the character of the king.”
Whatever is core in the heart and life of the pastor, the church becomes. If the pastor is involved in biblical study or intercessory prayer, the church will reflect that. If he’s kind to his wife and treats his children right, the men will organically aspire to be the same.
I’m a pastor and church planter, which I came to late in life after having been in business for many years. As I began to pastor, I discovered that I needed to have a powerful vision for the church. A vision that was immutable, irreversible, and fully committed to the incarnation of Christ in the hearts of people.
In the same way, to build strong men, we must have a compelling vision for our men. If we don’t reach men for Christ and disciple them, we won’t build a strong church.
Now, the level of involvement of the pastor can vary greatly, but there is no substitute for the pastor being the force behind the work, the impetus, the driver of discipling men.
When a man is discipled in Christ, it changes everything.
Once we disciple men and they disciple their children and love their wives as Christ loves the Church, those strong families don’t become a drain on a pastor but instead become the leaders in the church who help disciple others.
We state it often because it’s true: Strong Men make Strong Families and Strong Families make a Strong Church.
