We're now in the season of Lent. It's the forty day historical church season that culminates in the joy of Easter. It represents the forty days of fasting and testing that Jesus endured in the wilderness. It's a season to remind ourselves of His great love for us and to reconsecrate our hearts.
To strengthen the power of this season, consider these three love-gifts that Jesus gave us at the cross.
Forgiveness: We have been set free – the death sentence over our heads has been lifted, we can breathe deep the fresh air of new life in Christ! Forgiveness is the most powerful gift you can give to friends and loved ones.
Jesus said; “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). John 10:10 AMP
Power: You have been given the authority to access the power of the Cross of Calvary, the blood, the empty tomb – victory over death, depression, sickness, and disease…all in the name of Jesus.
Everywhere Jesus went He healed the sick and set at rest those who were in bondage. The anointing of God is available to every follower of Christ,
“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.”
Hope: In Jesus Christ we find hope. Hope is a force so powerful that it makes faith possible. Without hope, dreams die, destinies are destroyed, and death is unchallenged.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 NIV
Right now, take a moment – thank the Lord for giving His life, His Spirit, and for these three love-gifts: Forgiveness, Power, and Hope.
As we run this race let us always remind ourselves that Hope is alive, Hope has a name, Hope's name is Jesus!
