We’re at war. Always have been. “This is a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.” (Eph 6:12 MSG) Even Billy Joel sang about it when he wrote, “… we didn’t start the fire, it was always burning.”
It’s important to have that front of mind. We’re in a fight. Nehemiah said it to his men rebuilding the walls against great opposition, “… remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” (Neh 4:14)
We sometimes joke that “there’s a conspiracy behind everything.” From world banking systems to the NBA draft. Maybe sometimes there is … perhaps it’s just a pagan landscape.
The truth is, there is absolutely is a grand conspiracy at work in our world. Jesus has already paid the price to win your victory, and yet the enemy wants to take you out. David said, “I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war.” (Psalm 120:7)
The intention of your heart will always direct the action of your hand.
So, let’s open our eyes and see clearly what’s happening around us. Be courageous and call it out. Be spiritually wise and profoundly discerning about the institutions that would derail your children, your marriage, your deepest dreams and desires.
We need the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives to discern the times, seasons, voices, actions, culture happening around us. Paul said, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Tim 1:7)
And once we identify the traps and conspiracies of the enemy - do something.
Speak up and speak life. Take action. Whether it’s curating the movies you watch, the music you allow in your home, or the podcasts you listen to in your car. Be alert. Feed your soul with the Bread of Life. Speak life into your world. Talk to your civic leaders. Start coaching soccer. A base line of involvement is to connect with your pastor and get to work at your church.
And as we see things clearly - keep this at the forefront - this word from Jesus. “In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” (Jn 16:33)
The conspiracy died when Jesus rose.
My brother - let Jesus rise in your life. Defeat the conspirator - filling your mind with the Word. Trust him fully. Pray with confidence. Take heart, Jesus is victorious!
Stay bold.
