The Battles You Choose

The battles you choose to fight reveal your heart. How did Jesus win the Cross, the largest battle he faced? He forgave.

I've often said the reason Judi and I have been married a long time is that I've given my wife a great ministry: the ministry of forgiveness.

Funny—but so true.

To love is to forgive. Judi and I have done that for each other. Not perfectly, but intentionally. And as often as needed.

Paul told Timothy not to get caught up in arguing over things that don't matter. It is unproductive and divisive. Arguing over words is most often a cover for "I want to be right." Which is all about self. It's human, but it's not godly.

The power of the cross of Jesus is the power of forgiveness. The strength and power behind a marriage that withstands the turmoil and distractions of life is forgiveness.

The power of forgiveness will fuel your heart, strengthen your inner drive, and bring fresh anointing to your life.

Eugene Peterson hit it right in the Message translation when he translated Ephesians 4:31-32 this way:

"Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you."
