Have you ever asked, What's my story? It’s important because your identity is the story you tell yourself about yourself.
The voice in your head tells you who you are and the size of your capacity. But is it speaking the truth? The height of a building is fully predicated on the depth and strength of its foundation. A foundation build on bedrock will stand the test of time.
Men too often are shackled to past mistakes we can’t shake. Worse, we tend to allow other people to write our stories. At CMN, we teach, “If you allow others to create your world for you, they will always create it too small.” It's a life built on sand.
Toxic words pollute. Dwelling in yesterday destroys. But you can change that narrative.
In the book Identity (https://cmn.men/collections/books/products/identity-authors-edition) , we wrote how the king embraced the dreams of a slave, Nehemiah, and believed he could accomplish the task.
Nehemiah had prepared for that day by spending hours in prayer that built his confidence, faith, and inner security. The king just confirmed what Nehemiah already believed about himself.
Nehemiah’s identity was not his job title. He was a slave! Nehemiah’s identity was not based on past failures—his own or others around him. His identity was carved into the deepest parts of his heart. It was based on the bedrock of who God said he was.
That’s you, and that’s me today.
What story are you telling yourself about yourself today? Maybe you already read the book Identity (https://cmn.men/collections/books/products/identity-authors-edition) .
But what happened since you put it down?
-
What if right now you allowed God to forgive you ... and forgave yourself of your past?
-
What if, right now, you fully embraced that you are a son of the King, created with purpose, destined for impact? Forgiven because of Jesus and the Cross.
-
Would mountains in your mind crumble?
-
Would forests of negative thoughts wither?
-
Would you walk out today with your head held high as an awesome man of God?
That’s who you are…..a man of God! That's the bedrock identity of your life ... forgiven and new in Christ!
Remember this important truth. The world defines a man by what he does with his hands. God defines a man by who he is in his heart.
Forgiven. Healthy. Whole, Fired up!
