Leading Isn’t Always Loud

The loudest man on the street isn't always the leader. In our world today, we have hundreds of men who have millions of “followers” on social media, and they're followed on news channels. They write widely read articles. But being loud isn't always being a leader.

Jesus wasn't loud in volume, but his life spoke volumes.

Our world lifts up the larger-than-life personality. The one who declares dominances, touts personal achievements and shows photos of himself with the latest car or accessory or lifestyle. As Jeremy Stalnecker pointed out on a recent Brave Men podcast taping, “That’s not leadership. That’s just broken people trying to lead a broken culture.”

The Jesus style of leadership is always about the welfare of others. It's about humility and character. It's not about your achievements. It's about helping others achieve their full identity in Jesus.

Real leadership isn’t self-centered. It’s self-sacrificial. It’s not about getting what you want. It’s about using your influence to help others grow.

The power of Jesus' life was the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the clear purpose of his mission, and the willingness to give his life for the sake of others.

And then Jesus said, "And what I have done, my disciples will also do" (John 14:12)

There's your model and there's your mandate, and this is our mission.

To be the hands of Christ, healing the hurts of culture.

It's not about being loud ... it's about loving Jesus and people.
