It’s not a new crisis.
In 1858, Walt Whitman, now considered a great American poet, decried the state of manliness in the nation. He said, “There is no doubt, as things now are, among the young men of modern civilised life, in cities, that a healthy manly virility seems to be almost lost – seems to have given place to a morbid, almost insane, pursuit of women…”
That was 150 years ago. Thought leaders were concerned with the state of manhood and the hearts of men. It’s something we’ve dealt with since the Garden and Adam.
Is it worse today? Most likely not—it’s just more amplified. We can see the results of immature men in Belize, Beirut, and Bangor, Maine almost instantly. All at the same time.
It’s not a new crisis.
But - it -is - still - a - CRISIS! More men leave children behind than at any point in our nation’s history. Of junior high school-aged young men in our local schools, 8 out of 10 have no father figure in their home. They are rootless, misdirected, and raging. They hurt.
It’s not a new crisis – but it’s our crisis.
That’s why CMN men are passionate about discipling fathers. Why we work tirelessly in helping churches disciple men. It’s why we are men fully committed to the mission of Jesus. To heal the sick, set men free, and preach the Kingdom.
Do something today. Make sure you’ve ordered resources for men’s discipleship. Get brotherhood on your schedule. From 8 years old to 80, men and boys need on-purpose mentoring.
If you’ve never started. Start now.

If you know someone who needs your help – go help. If you see young men in your church who need a good word – do it. If your community does not disciple men – you disciple them. Take responsibility. You don't have to be an expert.
Jesus commanded us to "Go" so that we'd actually GO.
Be the man of character and courage in the middle of the crisis.
Because that is who you are. That is what we do.
We are CMN, we rescue men.
