Don’t Limit God

God has no limits.

A few years ago, I accidentally handed cash to a drug addict. What unfolded was astounding.

I had walked into a church in Reno and was introduced to the volunteer at the resource table, Tim. Great, here's help, I thought. Tremendous.

I handed him a cash bag with $120 to make change and gave him some simple instructions.

What I didn’t know: Tim was a recovering addict fresh off the streets. For eight years, no one had handed him cash because it would just go up his nose or into his veins. In fact, Otto Kelly had just prayed with him to receive Christ that week.

What I also didn’t know: Tim had a dad, and all the years that Tim had been on the streets as an addict, that dad had never given up on him. Tim was shocked to be given cash ... but something big began that day. God began to transform his life. Tim invited his dad to go through the CMN curriculum with him. The power of the Holy Spirit healed their relationship; they were reconciled, Tim's heart was healed, he was set free from addictions, and they finished an intense two-year Majoring in Men course together. Amazing.

What no one knew: The dad had a disease. Tim and his dad qualified to be commissioned together and receive a sword. But by then, the dad was hospitalized, gravely ill.

The dad had spent sleepless nights concerned for his son’s whereabouts, crying out to God for his son’s salvation. Now, in the hospital room, Tim and CMN leader Otto Kelly presented the dad with his sword.

The next day, the dad held his son’s hand, tears of gratitude that his son was clean and sober, a Christian, discipled in the faith. What seemed impossible had actually happened. One minute, he held his son’s hand; the next minute, he was being carried in the hands of Jesus. The men in that room shed tears of joy as he entered heaven, knowing his greatest desire had been fulfilled. His son had come home.

What are you praying for this year? Keep praying. Don’t limit God. Tim didn’t sneak down an aisle with eyes closed. He went far beyond and stood up like a man, got discipled, started a business, and is raising his own son in the faith.

What are you praying for? A child far from God? A business you’ve wanted to start? A job or promotion you’ve been seeking?

God will do “exceeding abundantly above all we ask or even think” (Ephesians 3:20).

At CMN, we say, “God puts no limits on faith, faith puts no limits on God.

Don’t limit God.

I tell you this because I love you and I am praying for you. Hit “reply” and let me know how it’s going and how I can pray for you.
