The ultimate weapon of tyrants has always been death. From Caesar to Mao, the sword has been the ruling method of the dictatorial despot.
But Jesus defeated death. Broke the back of intimidation. Set us free from oppression and fear.
"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death" (Romans 8:2).
This applies to every part of our lives. People who would try to kill your dreams. A boss holding job retention over your head like a club. The fear of what may happen in your marriage. The accusations that the enemy throws at you in the middle of the night. He is a liar.
"He [Jesus] broke the power of death and illuminated [shown a bright light] the pathway to life and immortality through the Good News" (2 Timothy 1:10).
The Good News is Jesus. Hope is alive. The enemy is defeated.
You can walk into your life today, this week, this month, with the knowledge that the power of death, depression, and discouragement has been broken. You have been set free.
My go-to verse in any kind of life tension, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
Life to the fullest is the provision of the follower of Christ. Your heart is set free to have vision, build your life, cover your family, embrace brotherhood, go after bigger projects. The power of the enemy has been broken. The weapon of tyrants has no hold over you.
The Early Church grew in the maelstrom of persecution, threats, beatings, and executions because they defied the threats of the emperors. Death was no longer a threat.
