Christmas is the time of year when most of us think of how we can be a blessing in someone else’s life. We want to be generous and help someone. There’s a spirit of giving in the air.
Jesus came to set the world free, and they killed him.
Your good intentions will always find resistance. It’s part of wanting to be a good man. Jesus said, “The enemy (resistance) will always try to stop you, kill your dreams, destroy your hope.” (John 10:10)
The key to a successful life is dealing with that resistance.
Research tells us the brain has a place that harnesses our will power. It’s called the aMCC (anterior Midcingulate cortex). This area of will power only becomes stronger when we attempt to do things that are hard, things that we don’t inherently desire, actions that fight against the comfort of the flesh. We have to make a hard choice.
Defeating resistance is resolved by becoming a disciple of Jesus. Being formed into Christlikeness. Doing what we know we should do, even when our brain’s call to comfort is yelling at us. Submitting to his lordship, putting his word in our minds will change the narrative of the conversation and build a determined life.
Resistance is part of every man’s life.
The man who lives a larger, more generous, more fulfilling life is the man who by the power of God pushes through resistance. You are that man. You can do this. Every dream God has birthed in you is part of His heart for you – and the enemy will always try to stop you.
Build a stronger life today by recognizing that truly following Jesus is the answer. That’s called humility … knowing that you need him. James said, “Humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” (James 4:7,8a)
