A Brutal Phone Call, Great Ending.

Cliff was on a drug interdiction Coast Guard cutter working against cartels in the Caribbean. Fulfilling work, but it was dicey, dangerous, and potentially life-threatening. The cutter had to maintain radio silence for days at a time. But on Mother’s Day, the commander allowed each man a five-minute call home.

Cliff finally had his turn. Connected with his wife. And she immediately said, “We’re done. I’ve changed the locks. Don’t come here when you get back in port.”

Devastating. In the close quarters of a small boat, the word immediately spread. The captain put Cliff on a suicide watch, not knowing what he would do.

One evening as his shift ended, Cliff went to the quietest place he knew. A small galley that doubled as a library. Despondent, he hung his head and got lost in his thoughts.

After some time, he looked up and scanned the small library. One book caught his eye. It was called Maximized Manhood. He grabbed it. Began to read it. Over the next few days, he gave his life to Christ. When he got back to port, his wife wouldn't reverse her decision. He found a good church and began a new life.

Today, Cliff is remarried with a beautiful family and a powerful ministry in his local church. He’s in the firefighting business and continues to help men find Jesus.

Cliff said, “I’m not sure who left that book on that shelf. But I will be forever grateful. I’m living my best life in Jesus Christ. It’s awesome.”

One man gave a book. Another man started a new chapter in life.

What we do every day is rescue men. When you order books, when you give a gift, when you invite men to your group, when you subscribe to the podcast, when you attend Lions Roar, it all matters. This is how we change the future of the world and bring men to Christ.

No one may ever know who left that book. But the results are echoing across the nations.

Be that guy.
